On the afternoon of March 29, Professor Aaron Bobick, Dean of McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, and Teresa Sarai, Assistant Dean for International Relations, visited the School of Software.

On December 20, the ceremony of M. Tamer Oezsu, professor of the University of Waterloo, Canada, to renew his appointment as Distinguished Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University and the 21st Academic Report of Tsinghua Software Forum were held simultaneously in Conference Room 10-316 of the East Main Building of Tsinghua University and online. Wang Jianmin, Dean of the School of Software of Tsinghua University, teachers' representatives and nearly 100 teachers and students related to the database field attended the conference through a combination of online and offline. The meeting was chaired by Wang Jianmin.

“Today's world has entered the era of convergence between people, machines, and objects,” says Vice President Zeng Rong from Tsinghua during BDAISS 2023. He emphasized the increasing demand for innovation and value enhancement via #bigdata and machine learning.Prioritizing the frontiers of #technology is an important focus for Tsinghua's research in the interdisciplinary realm of big data. Zeng hopes that through the forum, a more open and win-win ecosystem for big data and intelligent software research than ever can be formed.

On November 2, Michael Owen Jordan, distinguished professor of the University of California, Berkeley, visited Tsinghua University. Wang Xiqin, president of Tsinghua University, met with Jordan at Tsinghua University, and the two sides exchanged views on further deepening cooperation.

Recently, at the 2023 buildingSMART Autumn Summit held in Lillestrom, Norway, the Building Information Modeling (BIM) research group of the Software School researched and developed CBIMS software (CBIMS: an openBIM+ Solution for Customizable BIM Checking based on buildingSMART & China National Standards) stands out from dozens of BIM software vendors around the world. Won the 2023 Technology Solutions Award, the first time a Chinese research team has won the technology award.

On July 10, the 20th issue of the "Tsinghua Software Forum" series of academic activities invited Philip S.Yu (Yu Shilan), distinguished professor of the University of Illinois at Chicago, to give an academic report entitled "On Recommendations via Large Multi-modal Models".

On July 5, the further appointment ceremony of Professor Chandrasekaran Mohan, Distinguished Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University, and the 19th issue of Tsinghua Software Forum were held simultaneously in Conference Room 10-316 of the East Main Building of Tsinghua University and online.

To address the existing struggles of precipitation nowcasting, Prof. Wang Jianmin & assoc. Prof. Long Mingsheng’s team from the School of Software proposed NowcastNet. This nonlinear nowcasting model provides precipitation nowcasts with high resolution, a long lead time and local details. Their work will mitigate the socioeconomic effects of extreme precipitation and improve precipitation nowcasting skills!

Switzerland local time on May 9, 2023 Geneva International Invention Exhibition line, online review results announced. Students Peng Yihao, Wang Ruihua, Zhang Xuancheng and Chen Changhua from School of Software mainly completed the project "Active Defense and accurate attack Tracing System for high-level Security Incidents based on Behavioral flow Modeling", which won the "Jury Special Award Gold Medal".

The 20th ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys 2022) was held in Boston, USA, from November 6 to 9.
