November 3,2023 Tsinghua Big Data & AI Software Symposium(BDAISS) was held at the Main Building of Tsinghua University.

Rong Zeng

“Today's world has entered the era of convergence between people, machines, and objects,” says Vice President Zeng Rong from Tsinghua during BDAISS 2023. He emphasized the increasing demand for innovation and value enhancement via #bigdata and machine learning. Prioritizing the frontiers of technology is an important focus for Tsinghua's research in the interdisciplinary realm of big data. Zeng hopes that through the forum, a more open and win-win ecosystem for big data and intelligent software research than ever can be formed.

Jianguang Sun

Sun Jiaguang said that he hopes to better promote the integration of big data and artificial intelligence software through the holding of this forum, and truly make a tool system that the country needs "can be used, useful and friendly".

The theme of this forum is "Big Data, Artificial intelligence and software", and the report session invited four top scientists in the field of big data intelligence software at home and abroad to conduct academic sharing on important fields such as machine learning, large language models, meta-imaging technology and intelligent industrial Internet of Things.

Michael Jordan

In his share entitled "Contracts, Uncertainties, and Incentives in Decentralized Machine Learning," Michael Owen Jordan, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Engineering, the Academy of Arts and Sciences, Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and Honorary Professor emeritus at Tsinghua University, pointed out that our work advances classical contract theory, The framework is considered to be applied to federated learning, data collection, and recommendation systems, and optimal and near-optimal contracts are designed to address two fundamental machine learning challenges in distributed environments.

Ion Stoica

Ion Stoica, Chair Professor at the University of California, Berkeley and Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, gave a presentation entitled "Software Stacks for Large Language Models: The "From Cloud Orchestration to Big Model Evaluation" share argues that with the release of ChatGPT, big language models have taken the world by storm, opening up new application development models, exacerbating GPU shortages, and raising new questions about the accuracy of their answers.

Qionghai Dai

Dai Qionghai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Information, Tsinghua University, shared the research on metasimaging from microscopy to astronomy, introduced the recent work progress in metasimaging technology, and said that in the future, metasimaging has the potential to become a general imaging architecture that can be widely used in biology, medicine and astronomy.

Jianmin Wang

Wang Jianmin, dean of the School of Software at Tsinghua University and executive director of the National Engineering Research Center for Big Data Software, with the title of "Intelligent Industrial Internet of Things Data System Software", summarized the practice of industrial Internet of Things data in the past ten years and combined with the development of the industrial Internet of Things database management system IoTDB. The software architecture of Iiot temporal big data system covering the life cycle of acquisition, management, processing, analysis, inference and execution is emphatically introduced.

On-site of the meeting

Representatives of the co-construction unit of the National Engineering Research Center for Big Data System Software and representatives of relevant departments of the Big Data Research Center of Tsinghua University attended the forum. The forum also attracted more than 200 participants from teachers and students inside and outside the university, representatives of scientific research institutes and technology enterprises.

Tsinghua Big Data & AI Software Symposium(BDAISS) is an upgraded version of the annual Tsinghua University Data Cross Forum, which aims to give a deep insight into the status quo, challenges and future development of big data intelligent software from the dual perspectives of academic research and industrial development, and inspire more Chinese scholars to innovate the theory, technology and application of big data intelligent software. We will promote open source innovation in big data intelligent software and the coordinated development of related industries in China.
